# Erratic Maps > Erratic Maps is a free, browser-based map poster and wallpaper generator. Pick > any location on Earth, style it with themes and typography, and export > print-ready map art as PNG, PDF, or SVG. No sign-up, no account. It is based > on the Terraink source code (AGPL-3.0). Everything runs client-side in the browser — map rendering and export happen on the user's device, and posters are never uploaded to a server. Fonts are self-hosted, so choosing a typeface makes no third-party request. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap, served as OpenMapTiles vector tiles by OpenFreeMap and rendered with MapLibre GL. What it does: - Search any city, region, or address by name, or enter coordinates directly - Style roads, water, parks, and building footprints with per-layer colors - Choose from curated themes or build a custom palette - Set city/country labels in one of nine bundled typefaces - Export as PNG, PDF, or layered SVG Erratic Maps is a design tool, not a data source — there is no public API, and the useful output is a poster file produced through the interface. ## Main - [Erratic Maps](https://maps.erraticl.uk): The app itself — create and export a map poster - [Source code](https://github.com/ErraticL/erratic-maps): AGPL-3.0 licensed fork of Terraink - [Terraink](https://github.com/yousifamanuel/terraink): The upstream project this app is based on ## Optional - [OpenStreetMap](https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright): Source of all map data, ODbL licensed - [OpenMapTiles](https://openmaptiles.org): Vector tile schema the map styles are built against - [OpenFreeMap](https://openfreemap.org): Tile hosting the app fetches at runtime - [Nominatim](https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org): Geocoding for location search - [MapLibre GL](https://maplibre.org): Rendering engine used for the map canvas
